The Person Behind the Smudges

Adria is a North Shore-based artist working primarily in charcoal, watercolor, and oil paint. Her work is rooted in direct observation, with a particular focus on figurative drawing, landscapes, and city scenes.

She received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Rhode Island School of Design and was accepted to RISD's competitive European Honors Program in Rome, Italy. Adria also received a Master in Design Studies from Harvard University’s Graduate School of Design. She was awarded Harvard’s Sinclair Kennedy Traveling Fellowship, which supported a year of independent study in Florence, Italy in affiliation with the Università degli Studi di Firenze. In addition to her formal arts education, Adria previously worked for two artists, assisting in their studios and helping teach art classes.

Adria currently draw and paints in a studio space at The Bower, a creative hub established by Montserrat College of Art in Beverly's downtown Art District. She is a member of the Salem Arts Association, Marblehead Arts Association, and ArtBlock organization. Her work has been exhibited in both the United States and in Italy.

In addition to making art, Adria works full time as a graphic designer. She also studies Italian and maintains an active language practice through weekly conversation sessions with a tutor.
